Graphic Designer – Internship (Unpaid)
Location: London (Brick Lane) / Remote
Type: Part-time, Internship

About Galleria Objets
Galleria Objets is an independent art gallery and project space on Brick Lane, London, dedicated to contemporary art, design, and cross-disciplinary experimentation. We host exhibitions, events, pop-ups and collaborations with artists, brands and cultural organisations from the UK and abroad.

We are looking for a Graphic Design Intern to support our visual communication and help shape the gallery’s visual identity across print and digital.

Role Overview

This is an unpaid internship intended as a learning opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career (e.g. student or recent graduate) who wants hands-on experience in the art and culture sector.

You will work closely with the Gallery Director and collaborators on a variety of visual assets for exhibitions and events, including:

  • Exhibition posters, flyers and social media assets
  • Website visuals and basic layouts (in collaboration with our web support)
  • Simple motion graphics or animated assets (if applicable to your skills)
  • Decks and PDFs for partners, sponsors and collaborators
  • On-site signage: captions, wall vinyls, wayfinding, price lists, etc.

Time commitment: 1–3 days per week (flexible), for an initial period of 3 months, with the possibility to extend by mutual agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Translate exhibition concepts into clear, engaging visuals for print and digital
  • Prepare artwork files for print (export, bleed, formats) and for web (sizes, ratios)
  • Maintain consistency with the gallery’s visual identity while experimenting with new ideas
  • Adapt designs to different platforms (Instagram, stories, newsletter, website, etc.)
  • Organise and archive design files for easy reuse and future projects
  • Occasionally take part in openings/events to capture content or test on-site materials

Ideal Profile

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is studying or has recently completed a degree / course in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field
  • Has good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or equivalent tools (Figma, Affinity, etc.)
  • Has a strong interest in contemporary art, culture, design and visual identities
  • Is comfortable working with bold colours, typography and experimental layouts
  • Is organised, reliable and able to manage their own time and deadlines
  • Is based in London or able to join us occasionally at the gallery (Brick Lane), though remote collaboration is also possible

A portfolio (PDF or website) is essential – it doesn’t need to be huge, just a selection that shows your taste and range.

What You Will Gain

  • Real-world experience designing for a working gallery and active programme
  • Portfolio-ready projects for exhibitions, events and collaborations
  • Insight into how an independent art space operates behind the scenes
  • Direct mentorship and feedback from the Gallery Director and collaborators
  • Credits on selected materials and, where possible, public recognition on our channels

How to Apply

Through the form below including:

  • A short introduction (who you are, what you’re interested in, why Galleria Objets)
  • Your CV or a brief summary of your background
  • A link to your portfolio or a PDF (max 15 MB)
  • Please attach as many examples as possible that represent your work and visual essence (posters, layouts, typography explorations, animations, branding, moodboards, experimental work, etc.)

There is no fixed deadline; applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Galleria Objets is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all interns.
