Aria: “At a point in life when I’m growing into a new stage I find the last remnants of childhood and adolescent tendencies being phased out.
I want to show there is growth in the death of something, a letting go of the past. We all carry triggers, social tendencies, cycles of abuse from our lives. Hanna Barbera is in homage to these emotions and mental states that once served a function in surviving times of high stress but no longer serve a purpose in our lives after growth occurs.
The playful cartoony nature of these skulls shows a positivity, a nostalgia for what comes, the same as we look at the past. Realizing that every moment now will pass you and you too move with it.”
